There are some very precious items in our pantry, not only for cooking but also for a variety of uses that we wouldn’t even imagine. Vinegar is one of these little treasures: a natural ally for ecological cleaning and housekeeping, and also for our wellness!
- Tones skin and removes flaws: make a solution of 1 part white vinegar and 10 parts water, apply with a cotton ball after daily facial cleaning.
- Strengthens nails and softens cuticles: immerse your fingertips in a bowl of white (or apple) vinegar for 5 minutes once a week.
- Removes labels: spray some pure vinegar directly on the label and gently scratch with your fingers until completely removed.
- Removes bad odours from hands: to make that fish, onion or garlic smell disappear, wash your hands with regular soap and rinse first with white vinegar, then with lukewarm water.
- Softens fabrics and removes their static chargein the washing machine: a half glass of white vinegar and a few drops of essential oil in the softener tray will result in soft, perfumed and especially ecological laundry. Just be careful not to mix vinegar with your laundry soap.
- Deep cleans and deodorises wooden chopping boards: rub the board surface with a cloth soaked in apple vinegar. No need to rinse.
- Keeps ants away: use a cloth soaked in white vinegar to clean door and window frames as a natural ant repellent; you may also add a few drops of peppermint essential oil to produce an even more unpleasant odour for these insects.
- Relieves sunburn: add a couple of cups of vinegar to your bath water and immerse for 10 minutes for immediate
- Makes your hair shine: after shampooing, apply a mixture of 2 tablespoons vinegar and 300 ml water; leave it to work for a few seconds then rinse.
- Helps weight loss and detoxifies your body: being used for years as a home remedy, apple vinegar has recently become popular in slimming and detox diets; among its several qualities are the ability to help digestion, eliminate toxins, lower cholesterol and balance natural ph.
