What to do when starting the machine for the first time?

When starting up for the first time, or if the coffee machine has not been used for a long time, it is advisable to rinse internal pipes as indicated in the instruction manual.

How can I make sure that my Polti Coffea P10S operates smoothly at all times?

If your coffee machine has not been used for an extended period of time, we recommend you to rinse the circuits. To do so, check that the filter holder is empty, then press the 2-cup coffee dispensing button three times in a row. In addition, you should perform a descaling cycle, after making approx. 400 cups of coffee. To do so, use a liquid descaler and follow the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

How long does it take for Polti Coffea P10S to heat up?

Polti Coffea has a heat up time of about 40 seconds.

How does the Polti Coffea P10S Filter Holder work?

To insert the filter holder, place it in its seat and turn it to the right until it locks in position.

What coffee can I use with Polti Coffea P10S?

What is a 44 mm E.S.E. pod?

An E.S.E. (Easy Serving Espresso) pod is a pre-packaged ground coffee serving, pressed between two filter paper layers. It has a round shape with standard diameter of 44 mm, and it can be used in coffee machines compatible with the E.S.E. system.

What is the difference between the 3 filters supplied?

The 1 cup/2 cup filters should be used with ground coffee, to obtain a single cup of coffee/two cups of coffee respectively; while the third filter should be used only with E.S.E. pods, to obtain a single-shot espresso

How much ground coffee should I use to make an espresso?

The quantity of ground coffee required to obtain a single-shot or a double-shot espresso may vary, based on your personal taste, on the grind size, and on the type of coffee used. As reference, you should use 10-12 grams for a single-shot espresso, and 18-20 grams for a double-shot espresso. If you use the E.S.E. pods, the coffee quality will be more consistent.

Do I need to press down on the coffee? How much force should I apply?

How much you have to press the ground coffee down depends on the flavour you wish to obtain. Experiment with different pressures based on the coffee amount, grind and type, to obtain the best performance from your coffee machine. As an indication, you should apply a force of 15 kg; however, try out different pressures to obtain the result you are looking for.

Does coffee dispensing stop automatically?

Yes, it stops automatically; you can also program the coffee volume, and you can stop dispensing at any time, by pressing the selected button again.

Can I change the amount of coffee dispensed?

Sure, you can adjust and program the amount of coffee dispensed based on your preference and taste.

Can I customise the coffee temperature?

No, it is not possible to adjust the coffee temperature with this machine.

Can I also use a large cup?

Yes, you can use any cup size, as long as its height is lower than 11 cm.

What kind of water should I use?

To make the most of Polti Coffea, we recommend using tap water or mineral/natural bottled water. Do not use sparkling or natural effervescent water, or water with added CO2.

Is it necessary to descale the machine?

For proper maintenance of the machine, carry out the descaling cycle after approx. 400 cups of coffee. Use a liquid descaler for coffee machines according to the instructions and dilutions given by the descaler manufacturer.

How often should descaling be done?

Can I use vinegar for descaling?

No. Use only a liquid descaler for coffee machines according to the instructions and dilutions given by the descaler manufacturer.

Which descaler should I use?

Use a specific liquid descaler designed for coffee machines, which can be found in the market.

How do I clean the machine?

Hand wash all "removable" components with water and a non-abrasive detergent. Clean the machine body with a wet cloth, and dry it, as needed (Perform this operation with the machine turned OFF and disconnected from the mains).
